Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
I come to the field of psychiatry with many experiences that I believe make me a well rounded provider. I was a critical care nurse for many years and spent time as an administrator. Additionally, I have my family practice degree and continue to stay current in the field of medicine.
My interest in alternative medicine continues to grow. In an effort to further my education in this field, I graduated from the fellowship program at The Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine. The program was created by Andrew Weil MD and is one of the leading alternative medical education programs in the world. I am currently studying essentials of herbs with Dr. Tieraona Low Dog. Dr. Low Dog is recognized as a leading expert in integrative medicine, particularly in the area of women’s health and was appointed by President Clinton to Chair the White House Commission of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2000.
During my work at a family practice office as a nurse practitioner, I found that my real passion was in psychiatry, so I went back to school and completed a second program to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I believe in treating every individual as a unique human being and that includes a belief in a holistic approach to their mental health issues. I realize one plan does not fit everyone and am committed to working with each individual to design the best approach to their treatment needs. Education is paramount to me and I believe in educating individuals about their diagnosis as well as their medications. I believe that it is a privilege and an honor when one entrusts their mental health needs to my care.
